Volunteerism is the act of contributing free labor to conduct community service or support a nonprofit organization. It is the principle of donating time and energy towards a greater cause. Volunteers help change lives of those in their community as a social responsibility rather than receiving a financial reward.
It is the volunteering of our club members and our community at large that enables The Monroe Morning Optimist Club to have a profound impact on our young. These volunteers assist in making cheese curds during the annual fair and every other year during our Cheese Days festival. The support received by our members and community members is what allows our club to give back to our youth in such positive way.
Volunteering in our club also means sponsoring youth oriented activities. Many of our youth become members of an Optimist Club because of what they experience as a youth. This includes the positive interaction with adults.
Our club does reserve the right to conduct a background check on our volunteers as a means of protecting the youth that our club is so passionate about assisting.
